PRODUCT ENTRY & TAGGING GUIDE

Use this guide when adding products to your seller account and preparing items for sale at The Barn. Accurate inventory and scannable barcode labels help checkout run smoothly and make sure your items can be sold.

ENTERING PRODUCTS

For in-store products, the main information you need to enter is:

  • Product Name
  • Price
  • Quantity

Always click SAVE before clicking Add New. If you click Add New before saving, the product information you just entered may be lost.

ENTER PRODUCT → SAVE → ADD NEW

ENTER PRODUCTS INDIVIDUALLY

We recommend not using the variant option. Variants can make inventory more difficult to manage and increase the chance of quantity errors.

Instead, enter each type of product individually. For example, if you sell the same shirt in different sizes or colors, create a separate product entry for each size/color rather than placing them under one product as variants.

KEEP YOUR QUANTITY ACCURATE

Each seller is responsible for keeping their inventory quantities accurate.

  • If the quantity for an item reaches zero, the system will not allow us to sell that item at checkout.
  • Make sure the quantity in your account matches the merchandise you have available in the store.
  • Update quantities when you add or remove merchandise.
  • Add new products as needed and keep your pricing and product information current.

LEAVE THE IN-STOCK DATE BLANK

Do not use the In-Stock Date field. Leave this field blank.

Entering an in-stock date can interfere with The Barn’s reports and backend inventory management.

PRICE TAGS & BARCODE LABELS

Handwritten price tags are not allowed.

Every item must have a printed label that includes:

  • Scannable barcode
  • Barcode number
  • Product name
  • Price

You may attach the printed barcode label directly to the product or place it on your own hang tag, packaging, or another appropriate tag.

PRINTING YOUR OWN LABELS

Sellers may print their own barcode labels at home if they have a Dymo printer or another method that produces the label accurately.

The barcode must be clear and scannable. Labels that are fuzzy, distorted, too small, or otherwise cannot be scanned may not be usable at checkout.

FREE BARCODE PRINTING AT THE BARN

The Barn prints barcode stickers for sellers free of charge.

If you don’t have a reliable way to print your own labels, we can print the barcode stickers for you.

Once printed, you can place the labels on your merchandise however works best for your products, including attaching them to your own hang tags.
